How to get to Uppsala

Uppsala is 30-40 minutes from Stockholm and can easily be reached from Stockholm-Arlanda International airport and there are frequent communications from the 3 other international airports in or around Stockholm. Please be sure to obtain Swedish Krona (SEK) when you arrive in Sweden as Euros are not accepted everywhere in Sweden.

Upon arrival into Stockholm-Arlanda International Airport, Stockholm

Stockholm-Arlanda International Airport is 42 km north of Stockholm and 36 km south of Uppsala.
Bus 801 runs between Arlanda and Uppsala city. Frequency: 2 buses per hour from 04h05-01h05. Journey time: 35 minutes. Cost: 90 SEK (10 Euro). Ticket Desk: you can buy a ticket from the driver (cash SEK=Swedish Krona only).

Trains leave Arlanda for Uppsala Central Station directly from Sky City. Frequency: please consult the timetables online www.resplus.se. Journey time: 15-20 minutes. Cost: 80-90 SEK (10 Euro) if purchased in advance. Tickets can be bought from the conductor, on board to an additional fee. Ticket Desk: SJ Resebutik/Travel Office, in Sky City (next to Terminal 5).

Taxis leave from outside the arrivals hall. Journey time: 30 minutes Cost: 425** SEK (50 Euro) - ask the driver for a fixed price (“fast pris”) in advance, you can pay by credit card or cash. You can also book a taxi from Uppsala in advance to pick you up at the airport: +46 18 100 000 or website: uppsalataxi.se

**The fixed price 425 SEK (October 2006) is for a regular size sedan with max 4 people and regular amount of luggage, transport to 1 address in Uppsala, during daytime. If you arrive very early morning or late evening, the prices are a little higher. If you are more people or have a lot of luggage, so you need a larger size car or a mini-van the price is higher. If you stay at more than on address in Uppsala city, the price from the first stop to the next is counted by the meter. Ask the driver for specifications, or order a taxi in advance with an agreed price.

Upon arrival into Stockholm-Bromma Airport, Stockholm

Stockholm-Bromma Airport is 12 km west of Stockholm and 80 km south-east of Uppsala. The airport bus runs between Bromma airport and Stockholm city centre. Frequency: the timetable runs to connect with flight arrivals and departures.

Cost: single ticket: 70 SEK (7,50 Euro) or return ticket: 130 SEK (14 Euro). Journey time: 15-minutes (depending on traffic). Ticket Desk: in airport arrivals hall. At the airport, tickets can also be bought from the driver.

From Stockholm central train station to Uppsala Central Station. Frequency: 2 trains per hour from 06h00 to 23h00. Journey time: 40 minutes. Cost: 60 SEK+/- (6,5 Euro). Ticket Desk: you can buy a ticket from the ticket desk in the main hall of the station.

Upon arrival into Stockholm-Skavsta Airport, city of Nyköping website

Skavsta Airport is 100 km south of Stockholm.

Flight shuttle buses run between Skavsta Airport to Stockholm Central Station.

Frequency: 30 minutes after every Ryan Air flight arrival, please consult the timetables online www.flygbussarna.com. Journey time: approximately 80 minutes.

Cost: 130 SEK (14 Euro) single ticket or 199 SEK (21 Euro) return ticket. Ticket Desk: you can buy a ticket from the ticket desk in the main hall of the airport.

From Stockholm central train station to Uppsala Central Station. Frequency: 2 trains per hour from 06h00 to 23h00. Journey time: 40 minutes. Cost: 64 SEK+/- (7 Euro). Ticket Desk: you can buy a ticket from the ticket desk in the main hall of the station.

From Stockholm-Västerås Airport, city of Västerås website

Västerås Airport is 100 km northwest of Stockholm and 80 km west of Uppsala.

Bus 941 runs between Västerås Airport to Västerås city centre and the Central railway and bus station. Journey time: 15 minutes. Cost: 20 SEK (2 Euro). Some hours of the day, transport is only provided by taxi and a seat must be ordered in advance from the airport terminal. From Västerås central station to Uppsala Central Station, you can choose to take a train or regional bus number 804:

Train – Frequency weekdays. Some trains go directly to Uppsala and some trains have a stop or change of train in Sala community (15-25 minutes stop): Cost: 100-120 SEK . Journey time: direct trains about 60 minutes, with change about 90 minutes. For time table, please visit www.sj.se

Bus 804 – Frequency: 1 bus per hour from 05h20 to 23h00 during weekdays and 1 bus per hour during the weekend from 07h00 to 23h00. Journey time: 90 minutes. Cost: 90 SEK (9 Euro).
