NDLTD: Past, Present, and Future

Speaker: Edward A. Fox

The Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (NDLTD, www.ndltd.org) has origins back to 1987, but the ETD initiative really began to move forward seriously in 1995. The first meeting in the ETD conference series was in 1997. NDLTD incorporated in 2003. Now there are over 300,000 ETDs made available through the Union Catalog and a variety of services, including Scirus and VTLS.

This overview traces the history of ETD activities, explains about NDLTD as an organization, reports on conclusions from the June 12-13 meetings of the NDLTD Board and Committees, and introduces new plans and prospects.
